Quickie Box Office Predictions – Weekend of July 29
July 29, 2011 by Danny Baldwin
Last weekend, I skipped the usual detailed analysis of the openers’ box office prospects because I was covering Comic-Con. This weekend, I’m going to do the same because I’m still recovering from Comic-Con… meaning I’m backed up with regular reviews in the queue to write for you guys, and I’d hate for this column to interfere with those being posted in a timely manner. But as always, I’m posting the chart of my guesses, complete with new openers Cowboys & Aliens; Crazy, Stupid, Love.; and The Smurfs…
My prediction of what the full top 10 will look like:
- Cowboys & Aliens … $31.0m ($8,267 PTA)
- The Smurfs … $28.5m ($8,395 PTA)
- Captain America: The First Avenger … $26.0m ($6,999 PTA) -60.0%
- Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 … $23.7m ($5,718 PTA) -50.0%
- Crazy, Stupid, Love. … $17.7m ($5,861 PTA)
- Friends with Benefits … $11.4m ($3,896 PTA) -38.8%
- Horrible Bosses … $8.3m ($3,307 PTA) -30.2%
- Transformers: Dark of the Moon … $7.0m ($2,688 PTA) -41.9%
- Zookeeper … $5.3m ($2,192 PTA) -39.1%
- Cars 2 … $3.7m ($2,099 PTA) -34.6%
