I’m already deep into this year’s San Diego Asian Film Festival and the reviews are stacking up. While I haven’t seen anything great just yet, the movies have been good on the whole and the festival has been running very smoothly. Those in the know weren’t lying when they told me that this was the city’s preeminent film gathering. Tomorrow marks the start of the 12th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival, my first time covering the event. Given that this is generally considered the crown jewel of the three festivals in town–the plain ‘ol San Diego Film Festival, run by different folks, is notorious for its awful selections–it is about time that I participate.
