A Review By Contributor Ryan Phillips:

You and I know fairy tales as sweet, mystical ol' stories. Well, in Shrek starring the one and only Mike Myers and Eddy Murphy, animators make a spoof of all of the fairy tales in the land. Shrek (voice talent Mike Myers), is a ogre who just wants to be left alone, and lives at a vacant swap. But one day a talking donkey (voice talent Eddy Murphy), stumbles into Shrek’s life.

I thought that this movie was very clever and funny in its crafting of jokes that reminisced with fairy tales. For example, "Donkey" (Eddie Murphy) brings a whole bunch of fairy tale characters that have been pushed out of their homes by Prince Farquad (voice talent John Lithgow) to Shrek’s swamp. Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs, The Boy Who Cried Wolf, and just about every other character in the world of fables is there. The Three Little Pigs are present and tell Shrek that the king, “Huffed, he puffed, and signed the eviction notice."

At first glance, this may look like another one of those stupid little "kiddy" movies, but its not. On the contrary, it has a lot of adult humor and jokes that applies to the young and old, which is quite rare in the animated genre.

I loved this movie. It was witty, funny, and clever. Once again, another computer animation film has amazed and dazzled us, not only because of its visuals, but by its humorous comedy and great voices. Mike Myers, in my opinion, is one of the funniest men alive and creates a great voice for Shrek. Eddie Murphy is hilarious as Donkey because of the personality the screenplay created for him. It is probably one of his best performances of all time.

I give Shrek 4 buckets. I strongly recommend it and truly think it will become a class.
