BUCKET REVIEWS

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 4, 2026.

Bucket Reviews is Danny Baldwin’s personal archive of film reviews and other writing at bucketreviews.com. This notice explains what personal information the site and its service providers handle. For questions or privacy requests, email webmaster@bucketreviews.com.

What information is handled, and why

Disqus and other third parties

Article pages may load Disqus code associated with the site’s historic commenting system, even though the archive design does not currently display a public comment form. Disqus may receive information about the page you visit, your IP address and device, and may use cookies or similar technology and process information for its own analytics or advertising. Disqus’s practices and choices are explained in its privacy policy.

Bucket Reviews uses Google Analytics 4 with measurement ID G-GHKNBQKBW4. Google acts as an analytics service provider and may process information in the United States and other countries under its applicable safeguards. Advertising storage, advertising user data, ad personalization, and Google Signals are disabled in the site’s implementation. Bucket Reviews does not use Google Ads. See Google’s Privacy Policy and its information about safeguarding Analytics data.

Files hosted on Bucket Reviews are delivered by Hostinger. Some pages link to other websites, which have their own privacy practices. An external link does not load that site merely because it appears here. If a page displays third-party embedded content, the provider may receive information when that content loads. WordPress may request an avatar from Gravatar when an avatar is displayed; Gravatar is operated by Automattic.

For further information, see Hostinger’s privacy policy and Automattic’s privacy policy. These providers and Google may process information in countries outside your own, including the United States, under their applicable terms and safeguards.

Cookies and choices

Authorized editor accounts need WordPress login cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though blocking login cookies will prevent account access. Disqus may set or read cookies and similar identifiers on article pages; its data-sharing information describes choices offered by Disqus. The Disqus publisher dashboard currently shows anonymous cookie targeting and affiliate-link rewriting turned off.

Google Analytics uses first-party cookies such as _ga and _ga_GHKNBQKBW4 when analytics storage is enabled. Bucket Reviews limits those cookies to approximately six months. For visitors outside the United States, and whenever GeoIP cannot determine a location, Analytics remains completely unloaded unless the visitor selects “Allow analytics.” For United States visitors, Analytics begins automatically unless the visitor has opted out or sends a Global Privacy Control signal. Advertising-related Google consent categories remain denied everywhere.

You can change your choice at any time through the “Privacy choices” button in the lower-right corner of the site. Turning analytics off removes accessible Bucket Reviews Google Analytics cookies and prevents the Google tag from loading on later pages in that browser. You may also clear site data in your browser.

Browser privacy signals

The site’s Analytics controller recognizes the Global Privacy Control signal and keeps Google Analytics disabled when the signal is present. We do not operate behavioral advertising or a data-sale system. Hostinger’s delivery and security logging does not depend on the Analytics choice. Disqus says it recognizes Do Not Track as an opt-out of its data sharing; its separate privacy policy explains its practices. Other providers may respond to browser signals under their own policies.

How long information is kept

Archive writing is kept as part of the historical record unless a correction or removal request is granted. Authorized account information is kept while an account is needed; correspondence is kept as reasonably needed to handle the request and related records. Historic comments and their metadata may remain with the archive unless removed after review. Google Analytics cookies are limited by the site to approximately six months; aggregate reports and event-level data are retained according to the Analytics property’s configured retention controls. Hostinger, Google, and other providers set their own operational log and backup periods. Backups may retain deleted information until they expire. We use retention settings and criteria appropriate to the limited audience-measurement purpose and review a specific request individually.

Your privacy requests

Email webmaster@bucketreviews.com to ask for access to, a copy of, correction of, or deletion of personal information we control, or to object to or request limits on a use of that information. Identify an archive page if your request concerns published material. We will consider applicable law, your rights, the rights of others, and the archive’s freedom-of-expression and historical interests. We may ask for reasonable identity verification. We do not charge for ordinary requests or treat visitors differently for making one. Information held independently by Disqus, Hostinger, or Automattic may also require a request to that provider.

If a law applicable to your location gives you additional rights, such as data portability, restriction of processing, withdrawal of consent, or an appeal, include that in your message and we will respond as required. If EU or UK data-protection law applies to a particular request, you may also complain to your local data-protection authority. Where those laws apply, our grounds for handling archive, account, correspondence, delivery, and security data are our legitimate interests in preserving and operating a personal archive, administering authorized access, answering messages, and protecting the site, subject to your rights and the rights of others; a specific legal duty may also require retention or disclosure. Nonessential device tracking requires consent where applicable. We do not use this information to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

California visitors

Bucket Reviews is operated as a personal archive without meaningful revenue. Whether a particular California privacy statute applies depends on its legal thresholds and the site’s actual activity. We will still review reasonable requests to know, correct, or delete personal information we control. We do not sell personal information or operate a behavioral-advertising program. United States visitors can turn Analytics off through “Privacy choices,” and the site honors Global Privacy Control for Analytics. Disqus’s independent processing is described above. If we become subject to a law requiring additional notices or rights, we will provide them.

Children

This is a general-audience archive, not a service directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children. If you believe a child has supplied information through the site or historic comments, contact us so we can review it.

Changes

We will revise this notice when the site’s data practices materially change. The date at the top shows the most recent revision.
