The thing this game lacked over the first was the searching for Chaos emeralds. Playing as Sonic and Shadow are much like the first Sonic Adventures. But Sega has added some new gameplay, Tails and Dr. Eggman in their bulky robot suits (I don't know what they're called), that shoot missals. That gets boring really fast. Worse are the levels with Knuckles and Rouge. Searching for Chaos takes away the adrenaline pumping action of running downhill at 60 frames per second. I still found the game to be the enjoyable while it lasted, but I almost beat it after one rental!
Controls are smooth and, well easy to, control. Press forward to run and A to jump. The game, actually, controls like a dream.
The story sticks to the similar guidelines of all of the other Sonic games. Find the Chaos emeralds. However they have taken this and added two new villains, Dr. Eggman and Shadow.
This game has has excellent sound and a great soundtrack to get your adrenaline going. It is one of the few action/adventure pieces whose lyrics actually cooperate with the contents of the game. The story seems to be in perfect condition to make a Sonic 3, which is on the way.
For you old-school gamers, Dr. Eggman doesn't come in the picture. Isn't there a guy that looks exactly like him named Dr. Robotnick? Dr. Eggman says things about him and his grandfather...hmmmm? I must have missed something in a past game.
"The game for action
adventure buffs!"
